It’s an exciting and interactive mentorship program designed to bridge the gap (transition ) between leaving high school and joining college/ university, by equipping the ex- cand with essential virtues and leadership skills based on God’s word.
It will enable and enhance every young person and give them a firm foundation to build upon in their life, work place and the community. This program aims to guide the youth to increase knowledge, grow essential assets, find personal motivation and create a successful path in their lives as well as serving their community.
Ensure that the Ex-candidates are well equipped and prepared for the next stage of life through instilling of practical Christian living skills, mentorship, leadership training and teaching in faith
To teach, nurture and mentor young people spiritually, mentally, socially and make them able leaders who bear fruit as they stand for their faith
Making disciples for Christ, creating reliable global citizens
The team and I used to talk about what was wrong with the world, and we always used to say that if somebody could just hold these kids’ hands sometimes —not drag them along, but just walk along with them—maybe a lot of them find their way .
The mentorship is designed to specifically help bridge the gap (transition) between leaving high school life and joining college/university life through the gaining of essential life skills based on God’s Word. The program runs once a week for 4 months, commencing the second week of January and each candidate is required to go through a leadership training which covers the following areas
For many teens and young adults, behaviour therapy, mental hygiene and psychotherapy doesn’t work.
They find it irrelevant to their lives, and they resist it. They protest that its not helping and refuse to continue.
And yet, many teens still need guidance from the outside, a wiser person they can look up to and trust. Sometimes the need isn’t to fix something that’s wrong, but to set in place a direction that’s right
For many in the 13-to-26 age group, sitting in a closed room and talking about unpleasant past experiences results in their withdrawal and unwillingness to continue.
They say therapy doesn't work for them. They say they don't like therapy because it's focused on problems and what's supposedly wrong with them making them feel more condemned rather than convicted. It just doesn't seem relevant to what they're dealing with in life on a daily basis.
Occasionally, these people need direction, focus, purpose, and an understanding of how to build meaningful and valuable relationships that will add value to their lives.
